Bio
For almost a quarter of a century, Tim Steed has impacted
the lives of over 1 million people with his keynote speeches,
corporate seminars, comedy routines, television shows, video
productions, college orientation programs, high school programs,
actor seminars, and professional theater.
He is recognized as one of the most entertaining and compelling
speakers in America . The reason? Tim combines his business
leadership background with his entertainment background
to produce memorable content-driven programs that are packed
with relatable humor.
And relatable he is. “Once, during a two week period,
I spoke to 75 lunch ladies in New Jersey , 1,300 freshmen
at the University of Idaho , and then a group of 40 scientists
and engineers in Kentucky . And they all asked about my
return availability. The lunch ladies even said they would
feed me if I would come back. I passed on that offer.”
Tim began his performance career at Roane State Community
College in Knoxville , TN. It was there a speech teacher
asked him to try out for a play. While still in school,
he bean acting in professional outdoor dramas like The
Smokey Mountain Passion Play.
Then, at the University of Tennessee , Tim discovered
standup comedy and took home First Runner-up of the Funniest
Person On Campus. Steed continued to hone his comedy
routines at places like the Comedy Zone and The Funny Bone
while still in school. During this time he also met a group
of local actors in an improvisational theatre company called,
On the Edge. Steed helped take the group from performing
on the stage at the historic Bijou Theater in Knoxville
, TN to writing and producing their own television shows.
Inspired by his local success, Tim moved to Orlando ,
Florida to find new opportunities in television. “My
big break came when I was killed by the Swamp Thing on the
USA Network. Casting agents liked the way I gurgled when
he snapped my neck.”
From there he was invited to help launch a new television
station, UPN 65. “It was so exciting the day we went
on the air. I gave the test pattern a standing ovation.”
Enjoying his leadership position, Steed did everything
at UPN 65 from writing copy to producing to hosting shows
and his career was picking up steam.
“But I really missed the immediate, face-to-face
impact of empowering people while entertaining them at the
same time.” So Steed moved to Nashville , Tennessee
to start his company, Steed Communications, LLC.
Tim now lives in Brentwood , Tennessee with his wife,
daughter, and loyal dog, Biscuit.
