There’s a new thought process, according to kayla itsines, enjoy chocolate and still lose weight! Chances are, your thought is: “eat chocolate and lose weight? Impossible!” Right? However, neuroscience is saying that if you eat a piece of chocolate before and after lunch and dinner, your appetite will be cut in half.
As it turns out, chocolate can actually work to fight off those nasty sugar spikes. One study from a University in Italy showed that individuals who ate a bar of dark chocolate every day for 15 days actually lowered their chances of insulin resistance by nearly 50 percent.
While it is true that the flavonoids are credited for this reduction in insulin resistance, dark chocolate is also known to contain some healthy fats which serve to slow the rate of sugar absorption into your blood stream. This prevents that nasty insulin spike, which sends the sugar straight into your fat cells. Additionally, insulin spikes affect the natural fat-burning mechanisms of your body and make you feel hungry again within just a few hours.
Also, Swiss scientists have proven that chocolate actually causes a reduction in the metabolic effects from stress and keeps away those cravings for salty, fatty, and sweet foods.
So, while it is true that chocolate can help you to lose weight, the catch is, it has to be dark chocolate that contains a minimum level of seventy percent cacao. Both milk and white chocolate contain milk (which is a type of sugar) and lots of extra sugar added. The dark chocolate, with its bittersweet taste (less extra sugar), will cause you to eat less and, as with everything else, moderation is key.
Trying to lose weight does not mean that you must give up your favorite candy. According to Kayla Itsines, it is actually much healthier than you ever could have imagined. Eating chocolate will actually work with your body to help you consume less.
